Plagiarism Policy
Ensuring Originality and Integrity in Scientific Publishing
The Annals of Advances in Chemistry (AAC) enforces a strict anti-plagiarism policy to uphold academic integrity. All submitted manuscripts are screened using advanced plagiarism detection software. Content that fails to meet originality standards is subject to rejection or retraction.
Plagiarism in all its forms—verbatim copying, paraphrasing without citation, self-plagiarism, or duplication of previously published material—is considered unethical and unacceptable. Authors are responsible for ensuring their work is free of plagiarism prior to submission.
Definition of Plagiarism
AAC defines plagiarism as the use of another’s ideas, data, figures, or language without proper acknowledgment. This includes:
- Copying text or figures without citation
- Paraphrasing content without attribution
- Using one's own published material without disclosure (self-plagiarism)
- Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously
Screening & Tools
- All submissions are screened using iThenticate
- Similarity index must be below 15% (excluding references, quotes, and template text)
- Manuscripts exceeding this threshold are returned to authors for revision
Actions & Consequences
- Suspected plagiarism is investigated by the editorial office
- Minor overlap may result in a request for revision
- Major overlap or confirmed plagiarism leads to immediate rejection
- Published papers with discovered plagiarism may be retracted
- Authors and affiliated institutions may be notified
Author Responsibility
Authors must ensure proper citation of all sources and disclose any previous publication of similar content. Collaborative authorship implies shared responsibility for the content and originality of the submission.
