Ethical Conduct Framework for Authors, Editors, and Reviewers

Purpose

The Annals of Advances in Chemistry (AAC) is committed to promoting the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity. This policy defines expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the publication process: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

  • Ensure submitted manuscripts are original, properly cited, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Disclose all financial and non-financial conflicts of interest.
  • Identify all co-authors who made significant contributions to the research.
  • Include ethics committee approvals where applicable for human or animal research.
  • Participate in the peer review process and respond to feedback in a timely manner.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

  • Make impartial editorial decisions based on scholarly merit and relevance.
  • Protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities.
  • Take appropriate action when ethical concerns or conflicts of interest arise.
  • Handle all submissions fairly and with transparency.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Maintain confidentiality and avoid personal bias.
  • Evaluate the manuscript based on scientific merit, methodology, and clarity.
  • Notify the editor of any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Avoid using content from reviewed manuscripts for personal or competitive gain.

4. Handling of Ethical Misconduct

AAC investigates all allegations of misconduct thoroughly, including plagiarism, falsified data, duplicate submission, or improper authorship. When misconduct is confirmed, actions may include:

  • Rejection of the manuscript or retraction of published content
  • Notification of authors' institutions or funders
  • Publication of corrections or retraction statements

5. Oversight and Compliance

This policy aligns with guidelines issued by COPE, DOAJ, ICMJE, and other leading ethical bodies. All parties involved in the editorial workflow are expected to comply with these standards to uphold academic credibility.
